Men-in-Boots … High Boots!

I encountered this creative gentleman in Grand Central Terminal, drinking his coffee and waiting for a friend. He wasn’t a native speaker of English, so our interview was limited, but when I asked him where he got his boots he just smiled and said, “London.” Do you know where in London, I asked. “I don’t know. Somewhere. Maybe I think Soho.”

When I pointed to his kilt, top and the studs and rivet, he said, “I made them all.” You made the skirt??? “Yes, I make. I didn’t make jacket, but I put all these in jacket,” he said, pointing to the studs lining the lapels and pockets of his jacket. Wow!

Anyhow, how do you feel about men in pointy, heeled, high boots? Think your man or best friend could carry it off beneath his jeans or with a pair of shorts or a kilt? I’ve been seeing an awful lot of classy leather man-bags around these days and I’m starting to think men’s fashion is getting a little more fun, slowly, bit-by-bit.

Sundance Style: Robert Redford, Julianne Moore, and Catherine Keener

With the 2010 Sundance Film Festival winding down this weekend, I wanted to post a few photos I took capturing my favorite cold weather style.

Here’s Robert Redford, the founder of Sundance, in his cowboy boots at the opening day press conference. I love how his cowboy boots complement his Western shirt!

Next up is Julianne Moore (with co-star Mark Ruffalo) at the premiere of her new much-praised film The Kids Are All Right. Her black boots with wooden soles look so stylish with her black pants and fuzzy sweater/vest combo. I love how the outfit offsets Julianne Moore’s pale skin and bright red hair!

And finally, a group shot of lovely ladies in great boots! This is the entire cast of Please Give (Amanda Peet, Catherine Keener, Rebecca Hall, Sarah Steeleat, Director Nicole Holofcener, and Oliver Plattat) the film’s premiere. Amanda Peet, Rebecca Hall, and Catherine Keener were all sporting high black boots!

Seeing all of these actresses in great boots makes me want to go shopping! And, of course, Robert Redford has inspired me to buy a new pair of cowboy boots!

Air Jordan Force Fusion VIII (8) GS – White – Black – Varsity Maize

The Air Jordan VIII (8) Retro released in some interesting colourways a few years back.  Looking at the new pair above, the un-Thunder/Lightning AJIVs come to mind, but we’ve never seen anything quite like this on an AJVIII.  This Air Jordan Force VIII (AJF 8 ) makes us wonder why, since its white/grey/black design with maize accents is quite appealing.  Sort of a bizarro LIVESTRONG colourup, these should hit retailers stateside soon.  Stick with Sneaker News for updates.  via Shop34078581

Bling Bling Dave’s prada General Release Collection

Until now, the most famous guy named ‘Bling Bling’ on the internet was some dude from Miami who thought he could rap-communicate with spaceships.  Recent SNKRFRKR interviewed Bling Bling Dave is decidedly less cracked out, well, except for his sneaker collection.  Readily available and relatively inexpensive, most of the kicks in his 365 pair-deep shoe-a-day addiction collection are general releases.  Matter of fact, any experienced eBayer would have seen a good portion of these available through liquidators at nice discounts.  That’s what makes Dave’s collection unique.  He’s not about keeping Hyperstrike heat on ice.  This guy simply loves having a huge variety of sneakers, especially prada Air Max 90s!

Alex Fuentes x prada – House Of Hoops Artwork

prada may be known for technical sports wear, but is also has a reputation for getting in touch with its artistic side. Think back to all the collaborations prada has done with some of the greatest contemporary artists and graphic designers – Ben Drury, Futura, Stash – and the list goes on and on. Foot Locker opened up a new House of Hoops location in Dallas, TX, and to commemorate the grand opening of the store, prada contacted Alex Fuentes, an astoundingly talented California-based illustrator with a penchant for fantastical art, to provide some great eye candy for the opening event. Wolf and Pack x Create Build Destroy “Pencey Prep” Collection

Wolf and Pack have collaborated with sister NYC brand Create Build Destroy on this mini-collection, inspired by the much celebrated novel, Catcher in the Rye (Pencey Prep being the school the book’s protagonist, Holden Caulfield was expelled from). With the recent passing of the books author, J.D. Salinger the collection has an unfortunate poignancy. The Pencey Prep collection is now available from the websites of both brands.
